• The syllabus is in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The basic objective of the syllabus is to impart the fundamental concepts in modern biology, biotechnology and bioinformatics. The syllabus is also designed to provide a hands-on experience in the following:
  • Modern molecular techniques
  • Bioinformatics and computational biology
• The programme has a strong orientation to the industry requirements
• Specialization offered in General Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
• Robust e-learning and e-resources infrastructure created through the DBT-funded Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility (BIF) and DBT-DeLCON consortium to facilitate teaching, learning and research
• State-of-the-art Lab facilities supported by DBT-HRD

• Candidates with a Bachelor Degree from any recognized University / Institution in Biological Sciences / Physical Sciences / Agricultural Sciences / Veterinary Sciences / Pharmaceutical Sciences / Medical Sciences with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
• Candidates appearing/due to appear in the final year/semester of their respective qualifying examinations in May / June 2016 are eligible to apply on condition that they attain the minimum eligibility percentage in aggregate in the said examination for consideration of admission into the programme. Such candidates will be only provisionally admitted to the programme on the basis of their performance in the Entrance Test and Interview. However, their admission will be confirmed only on submission of the testimonials of the final result of the qualifying exam with the required percentage on or before 31st October, 2016.

Selection of candidates for admission into the MSc. Programme in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics will be made through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview of the short-listed candidates. The question paper shall be of 100 marks, and will be of a duration of two hours. Question pattern will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in the fields of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, along-with General Aptitude questions. There shall be no negative marking. The standard of questions in Physics will be of 10+2 level while that of Chemistry and Biology will be of the Undergraduate level.

Note:

• The short-listed candidates for the interview (prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the Entrance Test) will be notified in the Dibrugarh University website: www.dibru.ac.in and also on the Notice Board of the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Dibrugarh University on 27th July 2016. The result of the Entrance Test shall not be communicated to the candidates individually.
• After the interview, the selected candidates shall take admission latest by 5th Aug 2016 by depositing necessary fees, etc. However, classes will commence from 1st Aug 2016.
• Original testimonials and certificates must be produced at the time of interview.
